Coloring Down the Lines -- February 18, 2015

Welcome back to our blog hop Wednesday, where we are challenged to use specified colors for our creations.  We were challenged this week to use Blushing Bride, Blackberry Bliss, Early Espresso, Mossy Meadow, Sahara Sand and Pistachio Pudding.

And here is our inspiration piece.

The Stampin'Up! coordinating colors:

 And this is my creation.   I used Blushing Bride and Blackberry Bliss for the flowers.  Blackberry Bliss is such a dark color that I stamped off once to get a more vibrant shade.  I sprinkled Dazzling Diamonds on the flowers, but it does not show up well in this picture.  Then Early Espresso for the branches.  Mossy Meadow is the main part of the card.  Pistachio Pudding is the "mortar" between the mosaic tiles.  Oh, you ask (do you ask?), what are those mosaic tiles and how did you get them?  You did ask, right?  I had almost forgotten about the technique, but ran across another card a few days ago that I had done several years ago.  Remember back in the "olden days" when we had to cut and trim our stamps and mount them?  I made a mosaic stamp from pieces of that left over rubber by cutting pieces and gluing them to an acrylic block -- see below.

Here is the stamp I made.  So this is legitimately a Stampin'Up! stamp.  Those pieces of rubber are Stampin'Up.   For my card above I just inked the "stamp" with VersaMark, stamped it on Whisper White then heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  After that just sponge with a color of your choice.  In this case, Pistachio Pudding.  Blue makes a really pretty cut china look.  So have fun making your own and playing with the effect.

Coloring Down The Lines -- February 11, 2015

Hi Friends.  It's coloring down the line blog hop Wednesday.  How are you?  Are  you dug out of all that snow?  Boston is still socked in.  I sure hope our Boston friends are doing ok.

Today you are here to check out the latest challenge.  You should have come to me from Liz's blogsite.  I still need to go take a look to see what she has done.  Beautiful I am sure.  We are challenged to use reds and pinks.  Below is our inspiration piece, and the corresponding Stampin'Up! colors.  Below that is my take on the challenge.

I believe I am finished with Valentines and now have moved on to spring and flowers.  Just wish the weather outside would follow my lead and warm up.  Soon, I hope.

Coloring Down the Lines -- February 4, 2015

Hi everyone.  Looks like it is color hop Wednesday.  I hope no one has blown away.  It has been so windy around here I hate to stick my head out the door.  Our hot tub cover even blew off and landed in the yard.  Hate it when that happens.

Anyway, you are here for our color hop, and should have arrived from Liz's blogsite.  Nice creation.  So nice.  Our inspiration piece is below.  Looks a little like a barn I pass on my way home from "the big city."  Only the door is up against the road so the cattle can cross the road from the barn.  Hmmmm, not sure why they need to cross the road from the barn.  I bet there is a joke about why the cattle cross the road from the barn.  If you know the answer, let me know.

And here are the Stampin'Up! colors we are to use.

So this is my interpretation.  I don't have any barn stamps, but no problem making a nice big Cherry Cobbler punch.  I am really liking the stamps in the new Occasions Mini, and all the ones from the Sale-a-brations catalog too.  I can't work fast enough to use them fast enough.

Color Challenge -- January 28, 2015

Oh my, this computer has been going in and out all day.  I guess it is the winter storm.  Tonight is Monday night, and I hope wherever you are you are not in the middle of the North East blizzard tonight.  We expect more snow tonight but not anything like North of here.  Stay warm, and stay safe.

So I need to get this done before the computer goes out again.  Our challenge this week is the inspiration piece below and the Stampin'Up! colors Robbie worked up for us -- Sahara Sand, Crisp Cantaloupe, Calypso Coral, Early Espresso, Baked Brown Sugar and Crumb Cake.  I love the colors, but wish I had used a larger flower for those rich corals.  Next time.

Coloring Down The Lines -- January 21, 2015

Welcome to our Wednesday color blog hop.  I've put all the Christmas things away.  By that I mean the Christmas stamps, Christmas paper, and Christmas creations.  I am done with that and ready for spring colors, bright colors, and flowers.  However, it is still snowing outside.  Ugh!  I am so ready for winter to be over.  Are you?  I have been making Valentines and flower cards.  Feels good.  But today I have one more rather wintery card for you.  The colors are subtle so I made a clean and simple card.  Here are the Stampin'Up! colors and below that is our inspiration piece.

You probably arrived here on my blog by way of Liz's blogsite,  I bet she has a gorgeous creation.  I think she chose the inspiration piece for us this week.

So here is my interpretation of the the colors and what our challenge is this week.  It is simple.  I used Lovely as a Tree.  I am so afraid this is the year SU will finally retire it.  I sure hope not as it has been my go to stamp set for many years.  I sponged a little Blushing Bride and Wisteria Wonder in the sky behind the trees.  I hope you like my card,

Coloring Down the Lines -- January 14, 2015

Welcome to our color blog hop Wednesday.  We have a few brighter colors this week.  They are as follows:

 The inspiration piece this week looks to me to be Valentine colors.  So, since I just received some new Valentine stamps recently, I decided to use the colors and make a Valentine.

Here is my creation.  I used You Plus Me stamps, Stacked With Love DSP, Lace Trim, and two sizes of heart punches.  And, of course, the colors.  This is the first Valentine I have made, but I have a bunch rolling around in my head.  I love the new stamps in the Occasions mini and can't wait to use everything I have bought.

You should have arrived from Liz's blogsite, where she has another beautiful creation.  I haven't seen it but I know it is beautiful because they always are.  And now you have to continue to Robbie's blogsite where you will find something special too.

Color Blog Hop -- January 7, 2015

Happy Wednesday, and happy 2015.  I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and that 2015 is going to be super.

It is time for our color challenge again, and this is the first one for our new year.  My company finally left, the decorations are down, and I am ready to start paying attention to my craft room.  It is a mess, but I'm working on it.  This week we are challenged to use subtle colors.  Here is our inspiration piece.

And here are the comparable Stampin'Up! colors.

My first thought with these colors was wedding.  However, I didn't want to work on a winter wedding, so knowing I need some thank you cards, I decided on a winter thank you.  Here is what I created.

The technique is embossing with white, and although the other color appears to be gray, actually I embossed with iredescent powder and this is the look I got.  I hope you like my thank you note.  Last week I received a nice box of new product from the Occasions mini and SAB brochure.  I can't wait to get my finger into all that stuff.  I hope you have fun deciding on the free things you want from the SAB brochure, and let me know if I can help.
