Coloring Down The Lines -- Melon Mambo

It's another happy Wednesday -- coloring down the lines bloghop day.  Glad you came to visit.  You should have arrived from Laura's blogsite.  She has an amazing blog, and I love all the wonderful things I find there.  I need to learn some of her punch art.  What a great creation she has for us today.

This week we are challenged again with 2 colors -- Melon Mambo and Pretty In Pink.  I didn't realize until we were challenged to use only 2 colors that I usually use several more than that.  When I try to think up something with only 2 colors it is a bit tricky.  I hope you like what I did today.

I love the Honeycomb embossing folder so much, that I don't even put it away.  It is right in the middle of my craft table.  I think my other folders are over in the box crying from loneliness.  My newest stamp set is A Fitting Occasion and I have been anxious to put it to use.  So I used it today.  The little butterflies are all shined up with some Dazzling Details.  Very simple card, and I like it.  I'm so glad we are working with 2-color challenges, they are fun.

Now we need to hop on over to Teri's blogsite.  She is another very talented crafter, and I love visiting her blog most days.  I bet she has another knockout creation for us.  Let's go...............

Shadow Box J.T.

Quick one today because I will be leaving here shortly for another all day craft day -- if the sleet and freezing rain hold off.  I sure hope I get something done.  There are so many things on my lists.  Yup, list(S).  Does everyone have lists everywhere and the more you try, the farther behind you get?

Ok, so here is my "creation" for today.  I've been telling friends that I am working on 2 shadow boxes of my grands for their dad.  He already has a couple with his son's football and his daughter's dance and cheerleading.  This time I decided to take a couple cute pictures from their last birthday.  Today I have J.T.'s and as soon as I finish it, I'll have the one of Hannah.

I used a couple techniques on this one.  The base cardstock is Naturals Ivory which I splattered with both green and gold acrylic paints.  The diagonal Certainly Celery cardstock is faintly stamped with a swirly stamp.  It is still rather bare, but when I get over to my son's I'm going to confiscate a birthday trinket and one of J.T.'s small lego characters.  Remember, this is a shadow BOX.  I can dangle and glue them in there toward the bottom.  I think that will finish off the design. Note, in one of the small pictures he is holding the finished Lego he got for his birthday, so Legos are a big thing with J.T.

The journaling tag is painted over with a gold stain and the letter stickers are things I had stashed away.  One other little thing added is some Washi Tape.  Love that stuff.

Now I just have to do Hannah's.  Of course, she is always easier to do.  Just add bunches of butterflies, flowers, sprinkle with lots of glitter, and it's done.

Have a super day.  Until next time..................

Coloring Down The Lines -- Regal Rose

Happy blog hop Wednesday.  It's that time of the week again.  This time we have been challenged to use another two color combination -- Regal Rose and Rose Red.   You should have arrived from Helen's blogsite.  Wasn't her card pretty, love it.  Be sure to look around her site, she has awesome creations!

These colors are ideal for Valentine's Day, but I am so done with hearts and Valentines.  I do, however, need a get well card and I thought what better than a cheery pink flower.  LOL.   I hope my friend likes pink!  I used both Regal Rose and Rose Red in the flower, which is cut with the Fun Flowers Bigz Die.  I also used one of the paper doilies from the Spring catalog.  I have only a couple more left, but I don't want to hoard them.  Notice the little paperclip?  That is one of the Hung Up Cute Clips from the Spring catalog.  I wanted a gold one to go with the burnished gold in the brad.  Since they come only in silver, I got out my thinking cap, and decided to ink up the silver with my gold Stampin Dazzle Marker, which is carried over from the Holiday catalog.  It worked pretty well.  I heat set after coloring, and so far the color has not rubbed off.

I embossed each of the flower petals with the Polka Dots  and Lacy Brocade folders.  Then I scrunched, folded, and bent the petals to give them a little shape.  Not sure that shows through on the picture, but they are crinkled.  I'm not sure I like the Linen Thread on the clip, but it is there to stay, so I think it will have to be ok.

So now it is time to hop over to Teri's blogsite to see what she has for us.  It's another Wow! creation, I am sure.   Be sure to come back soon.

Coloring Down The Lines -- Tangerine Tango

It's Coloring Down The Lines blog hop Wednesday.  Glad you came.  You should have arrived from Joni's blogsite.  Very pretty, Joni, love your creation.  This week we are starting something a little different.  We are doing TWO colors rather than three.  There will be the main color and a coordinating color.  This week it is Tangerine Tango with Cajun Craze.

I've been playing around with inks, mists, and paints the past few days.  For this card I made a mist with Tangerine Tango and also a mist with Cajun Craze.  Believe it or not, the lighter colored cardstock, the one embossed with the Honeycomb folder, is Whisper White cardstock misted with Tangerine Tango.  I misted, dried, misted and dried several times and it sill looks rather like plain colored cardstock.  I misted heavy in a couple places and lighter in other places, still looks very solid.  So, now I know how the misting works and next time I will use mist with a darker color to see if that works better.  The butterfly is Cajun Craze, and for that I first misted Whisper White CS with Cajun Craze mist, but wanted some texture so I also scraped the Cajun Craze ink pad around on the paper.  Then I cut the butterfly.   Everything is spritzed with Vaniller shimmer spritz.  Shimmer just doesn't photograph well, so it doesn't show here.

Well, thanks for visiting today.  Now let's hop over to see Teri's creation.  I love visiting Teri.

Girlie Birthday

Sheesh, I figure I better put something on my blog or you all will think I got buried in one of those snowdrifts on the East Coast.  The thing is, I didn't get even a flake of snow, it was all North of here.  So we dodged the bullet this time.  I would like to see a little snow, just not 3 feet all at once.  We had that 2 years ago -- I think 3 snows within about 9 days totalling 48 inches.  A bit too much.

So enough chattering, here is a card I did a couple weeks ago.  I really love that Honeycomb embossing folder, and am hoping Stampin'Up! follows up with a hexagon punch some time soon.  PLEASE, PRETTY PLEASE?  With sugar on top?

This one is pretty easy to tell what I did, so I am going to run.  I have an appointment for which I am already running late.  Be sure to come back no later than Wednesday to vist our Wednesday coloring down the lines blog hop.

Until next time...................

Artistic Fun

It's late, so just a quick post tonight and then I'm off to bed.  I did a few cards in the past couple days but have not photographed them.  However, here are pictures of what I was doing this morning (pictures sent by one of the other attendees).

We did a multi-media canvas class this morning.  What fun.  Still love my cardmaking, but this was fun for a change.  How do you like it?

Here's the start -- not much going on here.  I couldn't imagine how this was going to look like anything.

Here's the end result.  Better.

 Here's a close up:

After all that painting, dabbing, sponging, spritzing and gluing, I felt like a real artist.  Thanks to my friend Harriet for teaching this class and showing me how to work on canvas.

Ok, I'm off to bed.  Hope you all had a good day and have a wonderful one tomorrow.  Root for the correct team for the Super Bowl and be safe going to those parties.  We're going right next door, so I think we can stumble and trip home with no difficulty.  Has nothing to do with drink -- after all that food we'll be stumbling and tripping over all the calories -- hee hee.
